Don’t Forget the Deep Cleaning

Regular cleaning of your mini split system is crucial for several reasons. First, it ensures optimal performance by preventing dust and debris buildup, which can obstruct airflow and reduce efficiency. Clean systems operate more efficiently, leading to lower energy bills. Additionally, regular cleaning improves indoor air quality by removing allergens and pollutants, creating a healthier environment for you and your family. It also extends the lifespan of your system by preventing wear and tear on components. Overall, keeping your system clean ensures reliable, efficient, and long-lasting performance.

    Frequently Asked Questions

A mini split is a type of heating and cooling system that allows for individual temperature control in different rooms or zones. It consists of two main components: an outdoor compressor/condenser and one or more indoor air-handling units. These units are connected by refrigerant lines and electrical wiring. It is ductless, so no ducts or furnaces like central AC, which leads to less maintenance and faster installs.

With Mini Split Express a single room/zone system install will take 4 to 6 hours depending on the system layout and installation challenges. A multizone install  could take up to 3 days depending on how many indoor and outdoor units there are.

NO, Mini splits have been around for quite some time, with their origins dating back to the 1950s and 1960s. The first ductless mini split system was developed in Japan by Mitsubishi in 1959.These systems were introduced to the United States in the 1960s, with Heat Controller building the first ductless mini split HVAC system in 1965.Over the years, mini splits have evolved significantly, becoming more efficient and versatile.

Your mini split should be deep cleaned 1 year minimum ! Deep cleaning includes taking off the plastic coverings and power washing and spraying both units components with an allergen and mold killer. We also inspect all the components including electrical to make sure the system is working as efficient as possible.

It’s recommended to clean your mini split filters every one to two months. However, the exact frequency can depend on factors like air quality, system usage, and whether you have pets or live in a dusty environment. If you notice reduced airflow or your system isn’t cooling as efficiently, it might be time to clean the filters. Regular filter cleaning helps maintain optimal performance and indoor air quality. There are several types of mini split systems, each designed to suit different needs and preferences. Here are the main types:

  1. Wall-Mounted Mini Splits: These are the most common type. They are installed high on a wall and are ideal for various rooms. They are simple, affordable, and reliable

  2. Ceiling Cassette Mini Splits: These units are mounted on the ceiling, providing a wider airflow and keeping the indoor unit out of sight

  3. Ducted Mini Splits: These systems are concealed above the ceiling and distribute air through ducts, making them a good option for those who prefer hidden units

  4. Slim Ducted Mini Splits: Slim ducted mini split systems are a type of ducted mini split that use narrower ductwork compared to traditional ducted HVAC systems
  5. Floor-Mounted Mini Splits: These units are installed at floor level and are suitable for rooms with limited wall space
